The staff of the Pastoral Services Department at AnMed Health acknowledge the importance of spirituality in a person's life. They also understand the significant role that religious beliefs and resources can play in helping persons who are facing decisions about their health and life.

AnMed Health chaplains, chaplain externs, chaplaincy students and on-call community clergy respect and honor the beliefs of all individuals, and seek to provide a nurturing environment to them during times of crisis. The department strives to support persons of all faith groups and to work with clergy and members of various faith communities in supporting patients and families at AnMed Health.

Services provided by the chaplain through the Pastoral Services Department include:

  • Initial visits and spiritual assessments
  • Follow-up visits
  • Religious sacraments and religious resources
  • Response to referrals
  • Referrals to other disciplines
  • Conferences with the physician, patient or family
  • Advance directives consultations
  • Ethical consultations
  • Emotional crisis consultations
  • Spiritual crisis consultations
  • Prayer and religious rituals
  • Assistance with end-of-life decisions
  • Visits upon admission
  • Discharge planning
  • Trauma support
  • General staff support 
  • Palliative care

Chaplains are available 24 hours/7 days - to contact a chaplain ask nurse or operator to page 3636 for Medical Center and 3737 for Women's and Children's Hospital.
