The inpatient oncology unit is located on 4 North at the
AnMed Health Medical Center campus. All rooms are private with a private bath.
Oncology patients my be admitted to the inpatient unit for the following
reasons:
- Complex chemotherapy
- Symptom management
- Need for multiple blood product transfusion
- Need for IV antibiotics
Patients in the inpatient oncology unit should be aware of several things
before admission. They should go by the admitting office before going to the
patient unit. Bring home medications to the hospital in their bottles. A family
member or significant other is permitted, and one adult is allowed to stay
overnight. Children under the age of 14 years old are not encouraged to visit
the oncology unit, but if a patient desires a visit from a young person, please
notify the nurse. There is a small refrigerator in all patient rooms. Tea,
coffee, milk and juice are available to the patient, but soft drinks are
not.
Oncologists make daily rounds early in the morning beginning at 6:30 am.
Family members who desire to speak with the oncologists should be in the
patient's room a that time.
