Admission and Billing

Pre-Registration
The AnMed Health Admitting Office may call you prior to your admission to obtain information for your record. You may need to furnish insurance coverage and other personal information.

Inpatient Admitting - Medical Center
Patients coming to the Medical Center to be admitted should be dropped off at the Admitting Office, located off Fant Street at the front of the hospital. A circular driveway is located under a covered entrance.

Patients should bring the doctor's orders and their insurance cards, as well as any legal forms, if needed - such as Advance Directives , Living Wills or Health Care Power of Attorney. Bringing valuables is discouraged.

Patient and visitor parking are available in the front parking lot of the hospital.

What You Can Expect
At the Admitting and Discharge desk just inside the entrance, arriving patients are greeted by a staff member or volunteer who begins the registration process. The doctor's admission order is checked and the patient's room reservation confirmed. Next, a patient counselor meets with the patient to complete several admission forms, discuss payment arrangements and provide a patient identification bracelet. The patient is then escorted to the nursing unit.

In some cases, patients may also be admitted through the Emergency Department or directly to a hospital unit by their physician. For additional information about admitting, call the Admitting Office at (864) 512.1124.

Inpatient Admitting - Women's and Children's Hospital
Women's and Children's Hospital patients should be dropped off at the main entrance, located off East Reed Road. Upon arrival, the patient will take the elevators located to the left, and go to the unit of admission. If wheelchair transport is needed, please ask the front desk ambassador for assistance.

Labor and Delivery
Laboring mothers should go to the second floor and visit the Labor and Delivery nurses' station. The nurse will notify admissions staff that you are here for admission.

Pediatric and Women's Surgical Patients
Pediatric patients and women's elective surgery patients should go to the third floor and visit the nurses' station of their unit. The nurse will notify the admissions staff that you are here for admission.

Parking is available just outside the hospital's main entrance. There are designated spaces for expectant fathers and ample handicapped parking. For additional information about admitting, call the Admitting Office at (864) 512.1124.

Outpatient Testing
When outpatient procedures or testing are ordered, patients should go directly to the Outpatient Services Center (OSC) on North Fant Street. The center is located at the south side of the hospital near the Emergency Department entrance. Parking is available in front of the OSC.

After entering the lobby through the revolving doors, patients should take one of the elevators to Outpatient Registration on the second floor.

Patients should check in at the registration desk. Within a few minutes, patients are directed to a registration window, where a representative collects information such as patient name and address and discusses payment arrangements.

Patients must bring their doctor's order, as well as their insurance card and Social Security number. When the registration process is complete, the patient representative will direct the patient to the department or area where the testing or procedure will be performed.
